I am a quilter living in Woodbridge, Suffolk who has made quilts since I was a teenager. I also ring bells! Both are great British traditions....I will try to feature some of my antique Welsh and Durham quilts, the quilts I make myself, my quilting activities and also some of my bellringing achievements. Plus as many photos as I can manage. NB: Double click on the photos to see greater detail, then use back button to return to the main page.

In the Post Today

A pleasant surprise today - the postman rang the doorbell with these to deliver - two trophies from Quilts UK at Malvern. Apparently I can keep them for a year and then have to return them next March. You can see that the hand quilting trophy is much larger than the hand applique one!

That's Monkey checking the object out - and my quilting frame is the white object behind.

Past winners of the Hand Quilting award include Liz Jones, Gwenfai Rees Griffiths, Sandy Lush, Jaqui Harvey and Susan Briscoe, so I am flattered to have won it.

I was pretty tired after my visit to York for the Saturday Treasurer's training session, so I had to spend yesterday resting. Back to the grindstone today! I was pleased to see the current exhibitions at the Museum - and I am of a mind to join the 100 club to sponsor the YQ officer's salary - now that the Hollesley Tower one is just about finished it will make a good replacement for that monthly £10.

  1. These trophies look very impressive, I think you can be very proud to find your name in good community with such wonderful and famous handquilters (By the way - is it Gwenfai Rees Griffiths you have mentioned?).
A question out of curiosity: Do you know if a quilter from a foreign country has ever won the trophy?

  2. Just realised I never took a photo of the cup when I had it! Would you take one for me please? I've only got a pic of me holding it. Fluff showed no interest in it at all.

That cup reads like a who's who of hand quilters - isn't it great to see you name on the list?

  3. Hello Pippa,
How lovely that you got 2 trophies for your work at Malvern,(and Puss is obviously proud of you also) Well deserved. I was delighted to be able to point out your quilts to Sheila (Who is also a Q.G. Treasurer who's just been to HQ!) when I spotted them at the show, and had another look on the Saturday when I took my Granddaughter. Hope to see some more of your work at NEC in August.
